DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING
DOWNHILL BIKING DETAILS - TENTATIVE OPENING DATE JUNE 19
Let's just get this out of the way: there are no easy trails in the Mountain Village Bike Park. With that being said the park appeals to intermediate and expert downhill bikers with its 1,000 feet of vertical drop, 30-plus
berms,
and various jumps. But that's not even the best part. It is how you gain access to the Bike Park that has people talking:
the gondola, making this a one-of-a-kind downhill biking
experience. From Station St.
Sophia,
the Mountain Village Bike Park entrance is situated about 150 yards
south. Once there, you can indulge your senses on trails built to
International Mountain Bicycling Association guidelines. To choose your route, first
review the
Mountain Village Bike Park Trail Map. And to stay up-to-date on all things bike park, join the
conversation on Facebook.
SOME RULES
A couple quick rules. Sign a waiver and in turn you will receive a
free season pass to the park. Stay on the trail as there aren't any bike
trails from St.
Sophia
Gondola Station down to the
Town of Telluride. If you need to gain
access to the
Town of Telluride, load your bike on the back of a gondola
cabin and take the free ride down. We also ask that you read and obey
all trail
signage as signs were erected to keep all
trail users safe.
The park is open until sunset every day during the summer
months (mid-June to mid-October). Sorry, no dogs or
hikers are allowed
in the park.
